Revelstoke epitomises why adventure seekers fall in love with Canada.

Nestled in the heart of British Columbia the once sleepy railway town has become a year-round mecca for outdoor enthusiasts seeking wildlife, watersports and world-class winter experiences.

Located along the aptly named “Powder Highway” due to the vast quantities of champagne powder snow deposited throughout the region during winter the resort town lies at 480m (1,575ft) on the banks of the Columbia River. Surrounded by the Monashee, Selkirk and North Columbia Mountains, Revelstoke is the gateway to Glacier National Park and the infamous backcountry ski terrain of Rogers Pass. Boasting the largest vertical in North America, 1,713m (5,620ft) the local ski field Revelstoke Mountain Resort is a mere 6.2km from downtown and offers some of Canada’s best inbounds and side-country terrain.

Although Revelstoke is revered as a top winter destination it is also a great in summer, offering incredible hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, rafting, fishing, sightseeing and direct access to the wilderness.

With approximately 8,300 residents Revelstoke has up until recently managed to stay out of the tourist spotlight enabling it to retain its local small-town feel compared to some of the more mainstream mountain destinations further along the highway such as Banff.
